Museum of Fine Arts

One Thursday we went to a Museum of Fine Arts.
Museum of Fine Arts
It was amazing!!! Contemporary art is amazing. There were a lot of amazing object. Some of them made me smile. Some made me think. They all were great! If you ever are in Boston, you should definitely visit this museum!!!

There was, for example, a painting made by stepping into the paint and walking around. I have been impressed by many objects, but I do not want to spoil anything, if you have not been there. Just trust me - this museum is AWESOME.

Baseball

The greatest event we had this session, in my opinion, was going to a baseball game. This was amazing!

The day before the game I have never seen a baseball game, neither have I known the rules. But Freddie explained us the rules and we went to Fenway Park, America's most beloved ballpark.
An hour before the game it was raining really hard and almost everyone had thought that they would cancel the game. However, we were very lucky and the rain stopped!!!

In this game Red Sox were playing White Sox and a team from Boston won. They also have scored three home runs. As I was explained, it happens very rarely.

I enjoyed the game a lot; thank you, whoever made a decision to go to this game. And this was really beneficial to my knowledge about USA. I loved it!
We have seen two great and very renown universities - Harvard and MIT!

MIT has really impressed me. It is a really awesome university. We went on an info session and looked around a little bit.

And in MIT I have found the club from one of dreams: MIT Laboratory For Chocolate Science

If I ever get into a university I will either join or create such club.

The info session was very useful; however, I found out that the admittance rate of international students in only 3%, so I feel that I will not be able to study there=(

But, anyway, next we went to Harvard square. We could not get a tour and info session, so we just walked
around, seen the dorms, which were absolutely nice!

Harvard dorms

Harvard was just as I had expected, but MIT had surprised me. But anyway this day was amazing!!!

The Freedom Trail, carousel and Boston College

A lot of things happened in last days. So I am going to tell you about them in the order.

1. We went on the Freedom Trail. Basically, it is just an excursions around the main places of Boston. The man who was leading the excursion was dressed as they used to dress during The Civil War. It was amazing!

Cesar Hernandez punished(left) and our excursionist

A carousel
On the one time we went out, I have seen an amazing thing - a carousel! I didn't ride it that day, but I am going to, I hope=)

2. Today we went to Boston College.

The campus itself is amazing, built in a great neo-gothic style. It's location is suburban, so it's not urban and not in the middle of nowhere.
This is how most college buildings look like

A walkway in Boston College.
Personally, I do not think I would apply to Boston College, although I find it campus amazing. I just do not understand why it is so competetive(their average SAT score is around 2000 - a bit less than in Columbia), if  they are not usually high in university rankings.

I really enjoy my time here, in Boston. Tomorrow promises to be a really exciting day and I am looking forward to it - as to every my day here=)

First impressions

So, finally, I am here, in a glorious city of Boston!!!

I arrived on 5th of July, 3 days earlier the start of the session and the arrival of new students. So I have met students from the previous sessions. Many of them turned to be amazing and fun people, others were nice still =)

When I came here I was really impressed by the Boston Commons. It is a really-really-really nice big park in the center of Boston. We do not get such nice parks back in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The Boston Commons

The second thing I was impressed was the weather. It is warm(but not very hot) and sunny, so I enjoy this weather a lot=)

But today is the day when the session officially starts!!! I was very excited about the coming of new people. It is amazing how I can talk to people from different cities, states, countries and even continents!

Abbey Road serves a great mission to the world by uniting all people around the world by helping them to understand each other. Such programs as Abbey Road make our world a better place by dint of teaching young people that all human beings are equal regardless of their sex, age, race, nationality and so on.

So now I have a roommate from Austria, and it is great!!!

Tomorrow we have a diagnostic test and I am very excited about that. As I want to write the test well, I need to have a good sleep, so good night everyone(or whatever time of the day you have now)!!!

Hello world!

Hello, world!
Normally I look like this

My name is Svyatoslav ILINSKIY(but for short people call me Stas). I am 16 years old and I live in St Petersburg, Russia.

For this 16 years I have been intrested in many things, but let's start with one my passion - travelling! I really enjoy going to different countries, cities, towns looking at how people there live! When I don't leave some place for a few months I just start suffocating. So, I have to travel at least a few days every few months.

Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Montenegro, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Austria, England, Greece, Czech Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, USA - this is the full list of countries I have been in. Totally, it is 18 countries, if I haven't forgotten any.
For me it is really interesting to see different people and cultures.

My sister

Another my passion is music. I really enjoy listening to music, especially rock.

I will tell you a story of how I started listening to music. When I was about 8 my older sister brought a CD of Green Day. I haven't listened before that, so I took her CD while she was away and listened to it. Of course, I didn't understand any lyrics at all bit I still liked the music. As I remember, my favorite song was Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Now, I do not appreciate it so much, frankly, I just hate it. But then I really liked it. And that is how I started listening to music!
Now I do not listen to Green day much, but I like other bands. For example, Amanda Palmer, a singer, who is from Boston, the city I am going to this summer. So while I am there I would really like to go to her gig, if she will have one.

Also, I am really fond of musicals. I find them really nice. So, as I am going to NYC for a few days, I would really enjoy going to a musical. For instance, I know there is a musical on music of Green Day.

TV shows really became a quite significant part of my life recently.

I do not like Russian TV, however I find British and American TV really interesting. I guess my three favorite TV shows are now: Community, Doctor Who and The Mighty Boosh. Two latter ones are British and Community was born in the USA. I find them really nice and they make my life a bit brighter=)

Now you know about the three of my passions; I have many more, though I have to stop in order not to make this post too long and to keep it readable.

If you have read carefully, you might have noticed that I am going to Boston and NYC this summer.

I am looking forward to walking through the streets of Boston and New York, going to a gig of Amanda Palmer, meeting new people and making new friends, learning new things, improving my English, seeing different universities, spending my free time, going to New York, watching a musical, buying and reading books, watching TV shows, lying on a beach, making videos and, finally, having good time!
